The Age of Consequences

6:30 - 8:30 pm
University of Alberta
87 Avenue and 111 Street
The University of Alberta International and the Canadian International Council Edmonton Branch present a screening of “The Age of Consequences”. A new look into the effects of climate change on issues of US national security and global political instability.
Written and directed by Jared P. Scott (“Requiem for the American Dream”, “Disruption’, “Do the Math”), “The Age of Consequences” seeks out generals, military veterans and other strategists to further illustrate the effects climate shocks have had on very recent political and human systems (e.g. Syrian conflict, Arab Spring and the European refugee crisis), and predicts how similar effects are bound to adversely affect our near to medium future (“climate change is an accelerant to instability”).
“A stark warning” – BBC World News
“Compelling and frightening” – New York Times
“Deftly weaves together causalities and consequences” – The State of the Arts
A short panel discussion will follow the screening (speakers to be announced).
